Viktoria Plzen midfielder Lukas Kalvach believes that Inter will be a slightly easier opponent for the Czech side than Barcelona or Bayern Munich but still an extremely tough match.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of tomorrow evening’s Champions League group stage match with the Nerazzurri, as reported by FCInterNews, the 27-year-old gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri, also noting that they are not quite as strong without Romelu Lukakau.

Inter, Barcelona, and Bayern are all teams who Viktoria will have felt were among the most difficult that they could have been drawn against from their respective pots in the group stage draw in the Champions League.

The sense for many is that the Nerazzurri are not at quite the same level as German champions Bayern, or as free-spending Barcelona, but there is still little doubt that if Viktoria are to get any sort of clash with Inter they will have to work very hard for it.

“It will be a very difficult match, but we’re playing at home so we hope that we can give something more,” Kalvach said.

“As mentioned, we expect a difficult match,” he continued. “We go into it after a match like the one we had in Barcelona, so it should be easier, we already know what to expect.”

“We could say that they’re a little easier to play against than the other teams in the group,” he added, “but we still have to be prepared, give 100% and make sure they aren’t able to play their game.”

Regarding the notable absence of Romelu Lukaku, Kalvach said that “They’re certainly not as strong, as he’s one of the best players in the world. But then there’s Dzeko, who can also hurt us.”

Asked if he thinks that the difference could come down to pace, he replied that “Speed is important, but so is the ability to play with the ball. There are top players in the Champions League and we have to compete with them.”

“We saw the last part of their game against Toro, when they scored,” he went on of the Nerazzurri. “It was very interesting, our strength will be playing at home, and we hope that because of this we can take points.”

And of who he most fears among Inter players, Kalvach said “The forwards, Lautaro and Dzeko, although the midfielders are also very good.”
