Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and Sporting Director Piero Ausilio will hold an important round of talks regarding the prospective contract extension of defender Milan Skriniar in October.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri directors will sit down with the 27-year-old and his representative to try and get closer to an agreement on a new deal.

Inter have yet to confirm Skriniar’s future with a new contract, but would be extremely keen to avoid the possibility of losing the Slovakian on a free transfer at the end of the season given that his current deal runs out at the end of June 2023.

Prior to the summer, the club had been convinced that they could find an agreement on a deal with wages of €5.5 million net per season, but now the feeling is that at the very least the player and his representative Roberto Sistici will demand wages in line with the club’s earners.

Skriniar would not earn the same as striker Roberto Sistici, but the club are expecting the player’s demands to reflect the €6.2 million net per season that Lautaro Martinez earns and the €6.5 million net per season that Marcelo Brozovic earns, with both players having extended their contracts last season.
