Italian journalist Sandro Sabatini believes that Inter would be taking a big risk if they are to alternate between Samir Handanovic and Andre Onana in goal for much longer this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Sabatini expressed skepticism regarding the idea of giving both keepers regular playing time rather than settling on one conclusively as the main option in goal.

Onana started against Bayern Munich in Inter’s Champions League opener last week, whilst Handanovic returned to the lineup for Saturday’s Serie A clash with Torino, and it remains to be seen which of the two plays from the start against Viktoria Plzen this evening.

Coach Simone Inzaghi has not been shy about stating that both of the pair are deserving of playing time, and reports have suggested that there could be at least some degree of rotation between the duo over the course of the campaign.

Sabatini, however, stated that “Rotating between the two of them seems crazy to me. I think that it would be very risky.”
