Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries feels that he always wants to make as big a contribution as he can when he’s called upon, whether it’s by scoring goals or helping the team out in other ways.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the team’s 2-0 Champions League group stage victory over Viktoria Plzen, the 26-year-old gave his thoughts on the match and how he wants to help the team out.
Dumfries found the back of the net in the second half of yesterday’s match, sealing the victory with the Nerazzurri’s second goal, and in truth the Dutchman had been threatening the Czech champions down his flank all evening.
The former PSV wingback has certainly established himself as a regular goal threat from his position since joining Inter last summer, and he has also become more integrated into the team on a tactical level, able to operate effectively on both sides of the ball as he showed against Plzen.
“I always try to help the team and score as many goals as possible,” Dumfries said. “Tonight we missed some opportunities, I tried to focus on precision and I’m happy to have scored today, let’s hope we continue like this, that will be important.”
