Inter defender Francesco Acerbi was among the four best players on the pitch for Inter on his debut for the club against Viktoria Plzen yesterday evening.
This is the view of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who handed the 34-year-old a 7/10 score for his first ever performance in the player ratings for the 2-0 Champions League group stage win, the same grade as Edin Dzeko, Marcelo Brozovic, and Denzel Dumfries.
Acerbi was given an opportunity to prove himself less than two weeks after he joined Inter on loan from Lazio on the final day of the summer transfer window, and if it was a test for the experienced defender then he certainly passed it.
The 34-year-old didn’t have too much to do on the night as the Nerazzurri were on top for the lion’s share of the match, but he had to keep Plzen striker Tomas Chory quiet in order to avoid any nasty surprises at the back, and he did exactly that in a composed first start.
