Former Inter and AC Milan defender Fulvio Collovati believes that Inter are still the favourites to win the Serie A title despite some early missteps.
Speaking to Italian news outlet Numero-diez.com, Collovati predicted that the quality of the Nerazzurri’s squad would still be enough to keep them at the top of the Italian top flight even if they have lost a couple matches early on in the campaign.
Inter have not quite gotten off to the start that they’ll have hoped for in Serie A, with losses to Lazio and city rivals AC Milan denting their confidence and giving them a bit of ground to make up for in the league.
However, things hardly look catastrophic in terms of the Nerazzurri’s place in the table, whilst as Collovati points out, the team remains a very formidable looking one, and have started to recover with victories over Torino and Viktoria Plzen.
“There are three teams at the top of the table with fourteen points,” Collovati said. “Despite two defeats, against Lazio and in the derby, [Inter] are only two points from the top of the standings.”
“Inter have been having some difficulties, even in their match against Torino, but is a solid team, with a lot of depth options,” he argued. “Furthermore, they’re currently playing without Lukaku. In my opinion, Inter are still the favourites for the Scudetto, along with Milan.”
