Inter and AC Milan are still keeping the option of building their new stadium in Sesto San Giovanni open for the contingency that they cannot make progress with plans within the city of Milan after the end of the scheduled public debate.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have not abandoned the negotiations with Sesto as they are still unsure of the outcome of the public debate, which could still cause existing plans to fall through.

Inter and Milan are focusing on the plans to build within the city of Milan, having gotten approval from the city council on their updated plans to demolish the San Siro and build in the same area.

The public debate is set to start this month, and given that it is one of the major remaining bureaucratic hurdles for them, a positive outcome would recommend a huge step forward towards starting construction.

However, the clubs are not taking any outcome for granted as far as the debate, and so they still have the negotiations with Sesto available as a contingency.
