Juventus Coach Max Allegri: “Inter Still Strongest Team In Serie A Even Without Ivan Perisic, They’ve Strengthened In Midfield”

Juventus head coach Max Allegri believes that Inter are still the outstanding team in Serie A even if the loss of Ivan Perisic has been a difficult transition for them.

Speaking to Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti in an interview published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, Allegri gave his thoughts on the Serie A title race, and suggested that the Nerazzurri are still ahead of all the rest.

Allegri has never made any secret of his feelings on the quality of teams in Serie A, and last season consistently named Inter as the strongest team in the league, right up until the end of the campaign when they narrowly missed out on the title to AC Milan.

This season, the Nerazzurri are once again locked in a tough title race with the Rossoneri and Napoli, as well as teams around them like Atalanta, Roma, and Allegri’s Juventus, and the loss of Perisic has been noted as one problem for them, although Allegri thinks they’ve strengthened in other ways.

“Inter are the strongest team in the league, even if they miss Perisic on the left,” he said. “They’ve strengthened a lot in midfield with Mkhitaryan and Asllani, who is good.”

And of the Rossoneri, he said that “Milan have two exceptional players and a very modern style, Theo Hernandez and Leao.”

“The importance of physicality can’t be overstated,” he continued. “There’s no other player in the world who can beat his man with the power and lightness of Leao.”

And of his own team, Allegri said that “When we have everyone available we’re strong as well. But we’ll talk about that again, I hope soon.”
