Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is ready to re-form the first-choice partnership in attack with Romelu Lukaku after the international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 25-year-old is waiting patiently for the Belgian’s return and ready to finally really find the spark that the pair had found in their previous two seasons together.

Lukaku’s second spell at Inter hit a roadblock virtually before it had even begun, with the 29-year-old suffering a thigh strain three matches into the season which has ruled him out of the team’s past few matches.

In the meantime, Martinez has been the Nerazzurri’s talisman in attack, whilst Edin Dzeko has also stepped up and contributed in the Belgian’s absence and Joaquin Correa has also chipped in.

Inter have shown during the period that they can function with the attacking options that they have outside of Lukaku, albeit not at top level.

However, Martinez is looking forward to having his old strike partner back and ready to re-establish themselves as a real force leading the line for the Nerazzurri.
