Udinese forward Gerard Deulofeu has admitted that he and Inter striker Romelu Lukaku still talk regularly after having first become friends while teammates at Everton.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of the clash between his team and the Nerazzurri on Sunday, Deulofeu gave his thoughts on the Belgian striker and his former teammate.

Both Deulofeu and Lukaku spent several seasons with Everton in the Premier League, and the club was an important destination for both of them in establishing their reputations.

Now, the Spaniard is a key man for his team and expected to start for the Friulians on the weekend where he’ll be a key danger man for the Nerazzurri, whilst Lukaku will miss out on the match as the 29-year-old continues to recover from a thigh injury that has caused him to miss the past few matches with the Nerazzurri.

Deulofeu spoke about his continued relationship with the Inter striker, stating that “We always greet and talk to each other after the game, we have a great relationship because when we played together we linked up well.”

“I was his assist-man and he became a very good player, the relationship between us is still strong,” he added.
