Former Inter defender Francesco Colonnese feels that the team looked like a complete shambles at the back in their 3-1 loss to Udinese in Serie A.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, Colonnese did not equivocate in his analysis of the Nerazzurri’s defensive failings as they conceded three goals to fall to their third defeat of the Serie A season in only September.

Inter’s attack was not at its best against Udinese, but the real issues looked to be in defense, as they looked shaky throughout against the heavy pressure applied by the Bianconeri and were punished by two ruthless set piece goals and then a third on the counterattack to kill it off late on.

Colonnese feels that it was a performance that the players should feel embarrassed with, and that now the only thing left for them to do is to work so that they do not repeat a display like this and prove that they are better than what they showed at the Dacia Arena.

“If the players have any pride they will feel ashamed,” he said. “If you don’t analyze these losses understanding that you’ve made mistakes, and you keep thinking that it’s someone else’s fault, then in the end you’ll collapse.”

“Always changing coaches is not the solution,” he added, “name one player for me who’s playing as well as last season. Nothing is right, the defense is shambolic.”
