Inter captain Samir Handanovic feels that there’s no doubt that Udinese were deserved winners in their Serie A clash this afternoon.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 37-year-old acknowledged that the Nerazzurri had been second best in the match and stressed that now the only thing that the team can do is get back to work as they head into the international break.

Inter head into the break on the sourest of notes, having fallen to their third defeat of the season in Serie A, their fourth in all competitions, and their third consecutive away match by a 3-1 scoreline.

Everything had looked like it was going according to plan after Nicolo Barella struck the opening goal from a free kick in the fifth minute, but virtually everything after that only piled on the frustration as the home team roared back to deservedly equalize in the first half before two goals late on denied Inter even a point.

“There’s a lot to say after a day like today,” Handanovic reflected. “Let’s start that Udinese deservedly won. They did more than us and came out on top in every way they possibly could, from duels to second balls.”

“We were off our game technically, and then the match was decided by two set pieces, a team like ours can’t afford to give up situations like these,” he continued.

The captain continued that “We made too many mistakes. And when you make so many mistakes you give a boost to the opponents, who today were better than us.”

“Their rhythm and intensity were better than ours,” he was honest in saying.

“As always, after a defeat you have to get to work on the pitch because it’s the only way out of it,” the captain stressed. “So we get back on the pitch as players and coach, we talk a little bit and then it’s back to work.”
