Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that there is no use denying the fact that the team have lost far too many matches so early on in the season.

Speaking in a press conference after today’s 3-1 defeat away to Udinese, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach noted that losing three matches out of their first seven in Serie A is simply not good enough considering it took them thirty to lose the same number last campaign.

Inter have not drawn any matches in Serie A in their first seven matches played, but they go into the break having lost three already, all away, all by scorelines of 3-1, and all having initially taken an early lead.

If these kinds of matches were a relative rarity for the team last season, this time around they have been coming all too frequently, becoming a serious problem for their goals in the league.

“Last we had lost three games after thirty matches, this time it’s only been seven matches and there have already been the same number of defeats,” he rued.

“So we have to try to do better and do more,” he continued. “I’m the coach and the first person responsible. Three away matches, three matches in which we’ve taken an early lead, and three defeats. We have to improve.”

“We allowed them too much,” the coach continued by way of explanation for the match, “after going ahead early we had to manage the game betters, Udinese did well to read the situation.”

“In the second half we did a little better,” he continued, “but we allowed too much to Udinese on the counter where they’re very good, perhaps we were to eager in trying to find the winner.”

Of the goals that the team conceded, Inzaghi said that “The right defensive coverage is lacking and when that’s the case it’s always something the entire group is responsible for.”

“This is a team that went eight consecutive matches with a clean sheet last season,” he noted. “So now it’s become an aspect on which we have to work.”
