Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni didn’t try to hide his emotions after he was taken off the pitch just thirty minutes into the team’s 3-1 defeat to Udinese earlier this afternoon.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 23-year-old was visibly furious and vented his frustration as he came off as a substitute and sat down on the bench before teammate Robin Gosens had to calm him down.

Bastoni started for the Nerazzurri at the Darcia Arena, but along with midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan he was hauled off after a little over a half-hour played, with both players on a yellow card early on and coach Simone Inzaghi deciding something different was needed to freshen up the team.

The coach has never been shy about proactively taking off players who have booked, but making substitutions so early in the match felt like a statement, with Bastoni clearly not happy about the circumstances of his exit from the pitch.

The 23-year-old appeared angry and kicked the back of the seat in front of him in frustration, and Gosens spoke to him to try and calm him down.
