There is a real chance that defender Stefan de Vrij could leave Inter at the end of the current season on a free transfer.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who reported to Gazzetta.it, via FCInter1908, that right now the situation is uncertain regarding a prospective contract extension for the Dutchman, with no talks ongoing at the moment.

It had at one point looked virtually certain that Inter would offer de Vrij a new deal, with the 30-year-old’s current contract set to expire at the end of June 2023.

However, at the moment there is no indication that this would be close at hand, and on the contrary, there is no momentum to any contract talks with the player and his representatives.

The Nerazzurri could still break through on an agreement with the 30-year-old, but the sense is that if an offer worth €18-20 million arrived for him in the summer they would not have turned it down, and now the player could very conceivably decide to leave when his contract runs out.
