Italian journalist Matteo Marani feels that Inter failed to look like title contenders in their Serie A loss away to Udinese, and that it was the home side who looked like they have the quality to push for the Scudetto.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marani criticized the Nerazzurri for their mental collapse to fall to their third league defeat of the campaign, and contrasted them with the confident and tactically composed performance from the Bianconeri.

Inter met one of the form teams in Serie A in the form of Udinese, and they will have no illusions that it was going to be an easy match.

However, the Nerazzurri will have also felt that the quality in their team, and the fact that they finished second in the league last season and are considered among the favourites to win it this season, had to make them favourites to win on paper.

“Inter collapsed in the closing stages in terms of their heads and nerves,” Marani argued. “It was a moment where they had hoped they could keep up the momentum of recent results. And today will weigh especially heavily because now they go into the international break.”

“Inter once again conceded three goals away from home,” he added, “today the team that looked like they were fighting for the Scudetto were Udinese, not Inter.”
