Udinese head coach Andre Sottil feels that his team’s 3-1 win over Inter earlier this afternoon was fully deserved, but that they cannot rest on their laurels after their eye-catching early results.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, Sottil gave his reaction to his team’s impressive display and result against the Nerazzurri and emphasized humility and trying to keep their excellent start to the season going rather than letting it get to their heads.

Udinese are not just the form team in Serie A at the moment, but in all of Europe with five wins from their last five league matches, and the 3-1 win over last season’s runners-up Inter might just be the most impressive result yet.

The Bianconeri had also beaten Fiorentina and Roma, and the Nerazzurri found out why as Sottil’s men overran them in midfield and disrupted their rhythm, before punishing them twice from set pieces after going down early, and wrapping the result up on the counter.

“I’m very proud, and not just because of our current place in the table,” Sottil said. “We have to keep our feet planted on the ground but we’re happy, we deserved this victory against Inter – we created a lot and reacted well to them going ahead.”

“I have to congratulate the guys,” he added, “they’re great and showing the hunger I want to see. You have to be intense to win 3-1 against Inter.”
