Former Inter coach and legendary former Juventus and Nerazzurri midfielder Marco Tardelli feels that the angry reaction of Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni after being substituted during the first half of yesterday’s match against Udinese was more than understandable.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, Tardelli suggested that the anger shown by the 23-year-old just reflected how just about any player would feel if they had been substituted off in the circumstances.

Bastoni made no effort to hide his frustration when he was removed from the pitch just after the half-hour mark in yesterday’s match against Udinese, with coach Simone Inzaghi evidently deciding that he and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could not continue to be risked while on yellow cards.

The 23-year-old was visibly angry and kicked the back of the seat in front of him as he took his place on the bench, and Tardelli feels that this reaction was only natural from the defender.

“Coming off after thirty minutes I’d defy any player not to get get angry about being substituted off, it feels like you’re being specifically blamed for the situation,” he said.
