Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni didn’t do a great deal during his time on the pitch in yesterday’s 3-1 loss to Udinese to suggest that he deserved to be on for any longer.

This is the view in the player ratings from the match across Italian media, as highlighted by L’Interista, with the 23-year-old criticized for a fairly anonymous display at the back before he picked up an unnecessary booking and then was taken off by his coach during the first half.

Simone Inzaghi raised some eyebrows when he took off Bastoni after just over half an hour, along with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, replacing the duo with Federico Dimarco and Roberto Gagliardini respectively.

The move was at least partly to prevent either of the pair from picking up a second yellow, but in the view of the player ratings, Bastoni had also hardly lit up the match.

The Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport gave Bastoni a 4.5/10 score, whilst the Gazzetta dello Sport and TuttoMercatoWeb went to 5/10, and L’Interista to 5.5/10.
