Inter wingback Robin Gosens feels that Inter lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League after the Bavarians simply proved to have greater intensity than them on the night.

Speaking to German reporters, as reported by FCInterNews, the 28-year-old expressed surprise that Bayern’s domestic results have not been better considering how strong they had been when the Nerazzurri faced them.

Inter will always have expected that Bayern would have them one of their sternest tests considering the German champions’ reputation, and they proved to be every bit the kind of tough opposition that many would have predicted.

However, many Inter fans who watched the team get outclassed by Julian Nagelsmann’s men at the San Siro will have been more than a little surprised when they’ve seen a string of less-than-ideal results for Bayern in the Bundesliga over the past few weeks, and as Gosens revealed this sentiment is shared by the Nerazzurri’s players.

He called Bayern’s struggles in the league “Very surprising. After we played against Bayern in the Champions League, we all sat in the locker room after the game and said, ‘Wow, what intensity they play with!'”

He added that the team had thought “This is the absolute highest level in Europe and in the world. They overwhelmed us by showing twice the intensity that we put in.”
