Italian journalist Fabio Caressa believes that despite both Inter and Juventus having shown serious signs of struggle over the first seven matches of the Serie A season, it is the Bianconeri whose problems are more serious.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Caressa stressed the view that the circumstances at the two sides are not identical and argued that aside from the surface level results, the underlying issues that Juventus face are deeper.

Inter and Juventus both fell to defeat in their matches yesterday afternoon, with the Nerazzurri beaten 3-1 by Udinese whilst the Bianconeri fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Monza, the Lombards’ first victory of the campaign.

These results could hardly have come at a worse time for either team, who have already been facing tough questions, although it could be argued that whereas the Nerazzurri have simply looked tired and lacking energy, the Bianconeri look genuinely out of ideas.

“They’re two different situations,” Caressa argued, “Inter won two trophies last year and were in the title race until the very end, the background is different.”

“Inter and Juve are the two teams with the highest wage bills, which means something,” he continued. “The solutions for both would seem to be very complicated, but Juve’s problems have longer and are visible on the pitch, they’re problems are more deeply-rooted.”
