Coach Simone Inzaghi and defender Stefan de Vrij were to blame at least as much as anyone in Inter’s 3-1 Serie A loss to Udinese yesterday evening, in the view of Italian media.

The pair both received 4.5/10 scores in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the worst of anyone along with striker Lautaro Martinez, although the rest of the team didn’t fare much better.

Inzaghi’s starting eleven was overrun in the first half against Udinese, and whilst the coach was proactive to say the least with his substitutions they did little to affect the match positively.

If the first four changes essentially had little effect on the balance of play, the fifth and final one was disastrous, as Stefan de Vrij entered late for Francesco Acerbi and in his brief time on the pitch gave away the corner from which Udinese scored their winner and broadly saw the backline fall apart.
