Midfielder Kristjan Asllani is the favourite to start for Inter in favour of the suspended Marcelo Brozovic in the Serie A clash with Roma immediately after the international break.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the 20-year-old is the likeliest candidate to start at the base of midfield for the Nerazzurri considering Brozovic will not be available after picking up a suspension for five bookings so far this season.

Brozovic’s suspension gives Inter coach Simone Inzaghi a selection headache considering how important the Croat is in his role in the centre of the pitch.

However, Asllani was signed for specifically this sort of contingency, although it will not necessarily have been expected that Brozovic would become unavailable through suspension so early in the campaign.

There are other options than Asllani as well, if Inzaghi is reluctant to throw the Albanian into the fray in his first start so early on in a difficult match, but right now he is the player likeliest to play from the start.
