A free transfer is beginning to look like a much more likely prospect for Stefan de Vrij rather than a new contract, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, there is a growing chance that Inter will be losing Stefan de Vrij for the same amount which they got him for; zero.

Inter signed him from Lazio in 2018 on a free transfer and he is out of contract at the end of this season. If Inter are to receive a fee for the Dutchman then they will need to get him to sign a new deal and then sell him at a later date.

That is starting to look unlikely given he is in very poor form and the rumours in the previous summer market seem to have affected him.

If there is an upturn in form from him and the team then the situation may change.
