Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will not rush back from his thigh injury so as to not risk exacerbating the problem and subsequently missing out on the World Cup.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 29-year-old could be out of action for a month as he recovers from the injury, as he will only return when the risk of missing the World Cup with Croatia is very much reduced.

Brozovic picked up the thigh problem during the first half of Croatia’s Nations League win over Austria yesterday, and tests conducted earlier today confirmed that he had suffered a problem with his left thigh.

Further tests will be conducted by the Nerazzurri’s medical staff over the coming days which should reveal the full scope of the injury and a timeline for the 29-year-old’s recovery.

A quick return is not expected, however, as the Croat will be keen to return only when he has made a complete return to fitness.
