Inter are annoyed with how the fitness of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has been managed whilst he has been away with the Croatian national team, believing it to be partly the reason for the 29-year-old’s thigh injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri feel that the midfielder was not given sufficient rest and that too many risks were taken with his fitness by his national team.

Brozovic’s thigh injury is a major issue for Inter, as the Croat is now set to miss a number of matches between Serie A and the Champions League whilst he recovers.

The 29-year-old had played all ninety minutes of his national team’s 2-1 win over Denmark in the Nations League, and then also started against Austria just a couple days later, which Inter feel was too much of a risk with his fitness.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri are annoyed that the Croatian national team doctors have reported to them that he will likely have to “miss several weeks” with the recovery process, which they feel is an attempt to put pressure on them not to play him much to ensure he is fit for the World Cup.
