Fulham have made contact with the representatives of Inter defender Stefan de Vrij about a possible move next summer, although he would still prefer to extend his contract with the Nerazzurri.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Dutchman’s agents have been contacted by the Premier League club, whilst fellow English side Newcastle United are not currently interested in signing him.
De Vrij had recently linked with a potential move to Newcastle, although these links in fact date back to earlier in the year, with the Tyneside club having offered him a contract in March.
However, there is still interest in the 30-year-old’s signature, and Fulham could represent a viable option considering they are an ambitious and competitive club in the Premier League despite having only been promoted this season.
The London-based club have sounded out a move with de Vrij’s representatives, although for the moment his preference is towards staying at Inter.
At the moment, the Nerazzurri have frozen all contract extension talks with players over the age of thirty until the spring, and it is not clear whether a new deal will be agreed with de Vrij, although he would be willing to accept a new deal even without an increase in wages.
