Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic looks set to be on the sidelines for at least six matches whilst he recovers from the thigh problem that he picked up while on international duty with the Croatian national team.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 29-year-old should return in the Champions League group stage match against Viktoria Plzen at the very earliest, as he will be out for around a month recovering from the problem.

Brozovic is set to undergo medical tests next week which will shed some light on the precise nature of the injury that he picked up during the first half of Croatia’s Nations League match against Austria, as well as when he could be able to return.

However, the early tests have already revealed that the problem will be serious enough that the Croat should not be able to return within the next two or three weeks.

Brozovic would not have been able to play in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Roma after the international break one way or another due to suspension, but in addition to this he is also set to miss both Champions League clashes with Barcelona, as well as Serie A matches against Sassuolo, Salernitana, and Fiorentina.
