Inter coach Simone Inzaghi could bench Kristjan Asllani against AS Roma due to a new formation he wants to try, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, the coach had been expected to use Kristjan Asllani from the start in place of the injured Marcelo Brozovic but the possible switch to a 3-4-1-2 formation could see that change.

In training on Thursday, he lined up the team in that formation and had Nicolo Barella and Roberto Gagliardini as the two central midfielders with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a more advanced role behind the strikers.

That would mean keeping Kristjan Asllani on the bench if he is choosing the more physical Roberto Gagliardini for the match against the Giallorossi on Saturday evening.

The two starting strikers are expected to be Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez with Joaquin Correa being kept fit for the Barcelona match.
