Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has said that the teams further back in the table such as Inter will recover to fight in the Serie A title race, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during his press conference ahead of Napoli’s match against Torino at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday afternoon, via FCInternews, the former Inter coach refused to give any credence to the idea that teams like Inter and Juventus are out of the Serie A title race already.

He stressed that teams who were predicted to be title favourites have got a few less points than Napoli, a category that both Inter and Juventus fit into, but he feels that they will recover soon.

“There is some further behind, but the teams that have a few points less were given as favourites by everyone and they will recover, they are those seven teams that we have repeatedly mentioned.

“They can all do a top league championship and there is always someone who then enters and disturbs the balance, like Fiorentina last year. It is too early to make assessments.”

Inter have only got 12 points from their first seven games whereas Napoli have got 17 despite losing many of their key players in the summer transfer window such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne.
