Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the Nerazzurri must do everything they can to win their Serie A clash with his former team Roma this evening.
Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, the 33-year-old gave his thoughts on the first match back from the international break, noting the importance of getting back to winning ways following what has been a fairly rough start to the season for the Nerazzurri.
Inter lost three of their opening matches of the Serie A season, losing to the likes of Lazio, AC Milan, and Udinese just before the international break, and thinks don’t get a great deal easier for them now that they are back from the break.
The Giallorossi travel to the San Siro hoping to avenge a 1-0 loss to Atalanta in their own final match before the international break, and both teams will be hungry to get the result at all costs.
“It’s a very important match for us and we want to win it,” Mkhitaryan said. “We know that Roma are a very strong team, we’ve analyzed them prepared for the match well.”
“I hope we can do our best to win this match because after the defeat in Udine we have to do everything to win it in order to have more confidence for the matches to come,” he added.
Of the squad rotation, he said that “It’s not important who plays because whoever has to give everything for the team, but also those of us who don’t start have to be ready to come off the bench and make a difference.”
“But there’s no doubt about this,” he emphasized, “we’re all here to work together and help the team.”
Mkhitaryan then noted that “Our fans are like another player, they’re part of the team. They’re part of us too, and we hope to have them with us today so that we can win together.”
