Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani will be given a “baptism of fire” in his first start for the club in this evening’s Serie A clash with Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 20-year-old will be given the chance to prove himself from the start against the Giallorossi, but also that all the pressure will be upon his shoulders.

It hadn’t initially been certain that Asllani would be the man to fill in for the injured Marcelo Brozovic in this evening’s match, but now this looks to be all but confirmed.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is an alternative in the deep-lying midfield role, but Asllani is the player who profiles closest to the injured Brozovic as an out-and-out regista, and coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to give him his chance.

The Albanian won’t necessarily start every one of the six or more matches that Brozovic is out, but there is no doubt that he will receive a lot more playing time than he had before the international break, starting this evening.
