Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that the Nerazzurri players are not beating themselves up or putting the blame amongst themselves following their 2-1 Serie A loss to Roma earlier this evening.
Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 24-year-old stressed that the team are trying to be positive about the good things that they did in the match and build on the performance so that they can fight for the best possible result against Barcelona in the Champions League over the week.
Inter will have very few positives to take from their loss to the Giallorossi on the surface, as they let a one-goal lead slip in a match which had given them an opportunity to bounce back from their three earlier defeats in the league.
Moreover, things will hardly get easier for the Nerazzurri given that they have to face an in-form Barcelona in a Champions League group stage match that is nearly must-win on Tuesday.
Dimarco gave the view that “Right now the individual episodes aren’t going in our favour, and so we’re standing here talking about a loss that we didn’t deserve.”
“We as a team aren’t scolding each other, we’re a group of guys who get along well,” he continued, “we’re a group that works well together.”
“Right now we’re in a period where nothing is going our way, but we have to turn around and focus on Barcelona,” he continued.
As far as what the team will have to do to bounce back in that match, Dimarco said that “We have to work hard to be compact, be a team, and work to take the three points home as early as Tuesday.”
