Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is a major doubt to be available for Tuesday’s Champions League group stage clash with Barcelona.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Belgian is also not certain to be ready for next weekend’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo, although appearing in that match is now his target.

Lukaku had been hoping to use the international break just gone to get back to full fitness after a thigh strain had forced him to miss Inter’s matches against Cremonese, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Torino, Viktoria Plzen, and Udinese prior to the break.

The 29-year-old was not on international duty with Belgium, but has not managed to regain full fitness in time to face Roma this evening.

In addition to the Giallorossi, the first of two Champions League clashes with Barcelona is a major doubt for Lukaku, and even facing Sassuolo next weekend cannot be guaranteed.
