Inter Wingback Federico Dimarco: “We’re Standing Behind Simone Inzaghi, Period”

Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that the team are still fully behind their coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the 24-year-old reiterated that in spite of the recent poor run of form, the team spirit and morale are strong and everyone continues to fully support the coach.

Inzaghi’s future has become a matter for some speculation given that the Nerazzurri’s start to the season has not been at all what they’ll have hoped for or expected.

One factor that could be decisive in whether the 46-year-old stays on or the club decides to make a change is whether or not he continues to have the support of the dressing room.

For Dimarco, there is little question that the players still believe in their coach, and he doesn’t feel that it’s any more complicated than that.

When asked about the rumours around Inzaghi’s future, Dimarco replied that “We’re standing behind the coach, period.”

Of the team’s wretched recent form, he said that “We don’t suffer much defensively and yet we still concede goals.”

“The individual episodes are going against us,” he continued, “we have to work and take it one match at a time in order to get out of this bad period.”

Of the many goals conceded by the team so far this season Dimarco said that “I don’t really know how to answer, that’s something we have to look at and improve.”

“At this moment we need to remain a tight group, it’s the thing we need most right now,” the wingback said.
