Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s future could be at risk if he cannot turn the team’s form around by the time of their Serie A clash with Sassuolo next weekend.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that legendary former midfielder Dejan Stankovic could be waiting in the wings to replace Inzaghi if he is sacked.

Inzaghi will not immediately be sacked as Inter coach, but the club could see Saturday’s match against Sassuolo as one of his final chances to prove that he can make things work.

The 46-year-old has now guided the team to successive losses in the league against Roma and Udinese, and the club will feel that things cannot continue to backslide for much longer.

The Nerazzurri face Barcelona in the Champions League over the week, and then Sassuolo could represent yet another opportunity for a turning point for Inzaghi.

The former Lazio coach may not have many more such chances though, and if the club are to make a fateful decision then they could turn to Stankovic, who most recently coached Red Start Belgrade.
