Inter would consider sacking Simone Inzaghi as coach if the feeling is that the team are at serious risk of missing out on top four.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that since the failure to secure Champions League football would be a sporting and financial “catastrophe” it could be the impetus to take drastic measures on the bench.

At the moment, Inter’s form to start the Serie A season has plainly not been good enough to be on course for a spot in the top four at the end of the season, with four defeats from eight matches.

Inzaghi will be given more time to turn things around, as it is still early in the campaign and the 46-year-old has hardly lost the dressing room.

However, the club’s reluctance to act rashly or lose patience with the coach would be tested if they were at risk of finishing outside the top four.

Qualification for the group stage of next season’s Champions League is the minimum expectation for this season given the club’s plans.

Accordingly, whilst there is not currently a feeling within the club that Inzaghi is not the right man to guide the team to that key objective, if that sense changes then so could their overall attitude towards to coach.
