The comments made by Inter coach Simone Inzaghi in a press conference last Friday were the first real bump in the road in his relationship with President Steven Zhang.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 46-year-old’s statements particularly about the club’s accounts were not well-received by Zhang.

Inzaghi defended his record in Friday’s press conference ahead of the team’s match against Roma.

The coach emphasized that he has managed to win trophies wherever he’s gone, and also noted that the accounts of clubs he’s coached have tended to improve.

This was not something Zhang was happy to hear from his coach, as the Nerazzurri’s finances are a sensitive matter that he wouldn’t want to hear discussed so openly.

It was a sour note in what has been a very positive relationship between the two men so far, and in fact the first time there’s been a real flash point between the pair.
