Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that the Nerazzurri cannot get preoccupied with anything other than themselves in this evening’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, the 26-year-old stressed staying united against the massive challenge that will be posed by this evening’s match.

Inter face a hugely important match in their season, as it could be do-or-die for them as far as making it out of their Champions League group.

Barcelona are one of the strongest teams in Europe and will be anything but straightforward opposition.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri’s crisis in form means that this match has not exactly come at a convenient time for them.

However, as far as Onana is concerned, the only thing for the team to do is to focus on their own situation and keep working as a group so that they can try to get the result they want.

“In truth this will be a very important match for us considering what we’re going through,” he admitted, “it’s not an easy situation for us, and winning today would be very important.”

The goalkeeper continued that “This has to be an extra motivation for us because our intention is to get through the group stage, I’m convinced that we’ll play a great match today and can win.”

Of Barcelona, Onana said that “They’re a great team, but for us the most important thing is to think about ourselves.”

“We have to stay united,” he continued, “think about ourselves, listen to the coach and we’ll have our chances, plus we have great players.”

As far as the influence that playing at the San Siro will have, Onana said that “Being able to count on our fans today is very important for us.”

“It’s an extra motivation,” he continued of playing at home, “I’m convinced that we’ll have a great match, we will try to impose our game in a difficult match, we’re ready for it.”
