Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is unlikely to be fit enough to return in Saturday’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo, but is targeting a return against Barcelona next week.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that Saturday will likely be a little premature for the 29-year-old to play, but that next Wednesday’s second Champions League group stage clash with Barcelona is his target.

Lukaku is out for yet another match, having missed six matches before the international break and also the Nerazzurri’s return fixture against Roma.

The Belgian will not face Barcelona this evening, and an appearance against the Neroverdi over the weekend also looks to be unlikely.

However, Lukaku is hopeful that he can have a second bite at the cherry as far as facing Barcelona in the Champions League.

The next week will give the 29-year-old the opportunity to work back to full fitness finally, and he is targeting next Wednesday’s Champions League clash as a return date.
