Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that the team fully deserved their 1-0 Champions League win over Barcelona yesterday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Cameroonian emphasized that the result was a fair reflection of what the Nerazzurri had put into the match in his view.

Inter didn’t have things all their own way against the Blaugranas, who pushed them all the way by dominating possession and trying to carve out opportunities.

However, the Nerazzurri held on with a resolute defensive performance, and saw out the 1-0 advantage that had been established by midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu’s first-half strike.

Onana was very happy with what he saw from his teammates, and felt that the performance and result were exactly what was needed to potentially get past a moment of form that has been anything but solid to begin the season.

The 26-year-old made clear that “As I said before the match, we’re a great team and we always want to win.”

“I’m happy with the team’s display in a match that wasn’t easy at all,” he continued, “it’s no coincidence that we came out as winners, we deserve it.”

“In football, as in life, there are difficult moments,” the Cameroonian continued.

“Today I’m very happy for everyone,” Onana said, “it was a win that we all wanted.”

“Everyone around Inter wanted to win and overcome this difficult moment.”
