Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu did a good job of playing in the deepest midfield role in place of the injured Marcelo Brozovic against Barcelona in the view of Italian media.

As L’Interista highlight, the Turkish midfielder got positive scores across the board in the player ratings for the 1-0 Champions League victory.

Calhanoglu was the man who coach Simone Inzaghi turned to to play in the deepest role in the midfield trio with Brozovic currently recovering from a thigh injury.

Despite it not exactly being the Turkish international’s natural position, he held down the fort well apart from a few misplaced passes.

Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the match with a drilled shot into the bottom corner late in the first half and then gritted his teeth and defended with the rest of the team.

TuttoMercatoWeb gave Calhanoglu a 7/10 grade, whilst the Corriere dello Sport and L’Interista went to 7.5/10.

Meanwhile, for the Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport the Turk’s display warranted an 8/10 score.
