Inter made a point on Tuesday evening as they made Milan Skriniar the captain for the match against Barcelona amid contract renewal talks, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, Inter were likely well aware of the fact making Milan Skriniar the captain for such a big game will not hinder their chances of getting him to sign a new contract renewal.

The club are thought to be scheduling talks on the deal for the week after the Salernitana game which is on October 16.

They want to make him one of the highest earners at the club to reflect his importance to the side.

That importance was exhibited by letting him be the captain in the absence of Samir Handanovic who would normally wear the armband.

Paris Saint-Germain still pose a very real threat to the situation as they want to sign him on a free transfer.
