Former Inter forward Roberto Boninsegna has said that Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are the best striker duo in Europe, according to a report in the Italian media print today.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport, Roberto Boninsegna paid the ultimate compliment to two of Inter’s strikers.

He said that he is hopeful that Simone Inzaghi can get the two forwards back together as soon as possible due to their quality together.

“For me, the Martinez-Lukaku pair is the best in Europe.

“Let’s hope Inzaghi finds Dzeko and recovers Lukaku physically. For me he is Inter’s strongest player.

“The Nerazzurri have paid for his absence so far with a poor Serie A campaign.”

Romelu Lukaku has not had the return to Inter that he may have expected so far as he has missed plenty of games with a thigh injury.

It is thought that he could make his return against Barcelona next week but the Salernitana match is seen as more realistic.

Speaking of the return match against Barcelona at the Nou Camp next week, Roberto Boninsegna feels that Inter will get the win as long as they score first.

“In my opinion, if the Nerazzurri manage to score, they will be able to leave Camp Nou unscathed and pass the round, otherwise it becomes difficult.

“The key will be to score. I’d say that with a goal, they qualify.”
