Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has said that Federico Dimarco has got the Nerazzurri DNA as he continued to praise the defender, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Beppe Bergomi did not hold back in his affection for Federico Dimarco.

The Italian wingback has become the man of the moment for both Inter and the Italian national team in recent weeks due to his impressive performances.

He has been at Inter since he was 6 years old and that is why Beppe Bergomi had the confidence to say that Federico Dimarco knows what it means to play for Inter.

“He has the sense of belonging and the Nerazzurri DNA and certain things you don’t learn, you don’t train them.

“Growing up in the youth sector of a club like Inter, for a Milanese but also for a Lombard, means a lot.

“You learn from an early age the weight of the shirt, the history of the club, the responsibility that comes with being a Nerazzurri player.

“And in fact the thing that impresses me most about this latest Dimarco is his great personality: San Siro is a demanding stadium, in difficult moments it puts pressure on you.

“And he doesn’t flinch, he exalts himself. Federico embodies the Nerazzurri spirit in full.”

Beppe Bergomi is also a player who spent all of his career at Inter and therefore he can speak with authority on what Federico Dimarco must be feeling right now.

“They are extraordinary feelings: you look back and enjoy the path you’ve taken, the sacrifices that got you there.

“To get there you have to make a lot of effort because nobody gives you anything for free.”

Speaking about his excitement on becoming an Inter player, he said: “For me it was a dream, but it was a different time.

“When I later became captain, the first thing I tried to do was to make the new players understand what it meant to wear the Inter jersey.”
