Italian journalist Filippo Ricci has agreed that the referee in Inter’s win over Barcelona was poor but criticised the performance of Robert Lewandowski, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during the Tutti Convocati radio program, via FCInter1908, the Gazzetta dello Sport journalist focused on how poor the display from the Polish striker was on Tuesday in the Champions League.
Robert Lewandowski is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world and has been for a very long time.
He has scored plenty of goals since joining Barcelona from Bayern Munich but he was largely anonymous against Inter in the group game that ended 1-0.
“Definitely the referee didn’t have a great night, but Lewandowski didn’t touch the ball.
“There are a lot of problems, five games three defeats in the Champions League for Xavi as a coach.”
The reason that the referee comes into the discussion is that Barcelona were left incensed when they were not awarded a penalty in the second half.
Denzel Dumfries appeared to have clearly handled the ball in the box but no penalty was given after a review.
