Italian journalist Matteo Marani has said that Stefan de Vrij was decisive for Inter against Barcelona and it is time for Andre Onana to play, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInternews, the journalist focused on the Barcelona game and the performance of Stefan de Vrij.

The Dutch defender has been in very poor form this season but he put in a very good display along with his teammates on Tuesday night in the 1-0 win.

Matteo Marani described him as being ‘decisive’ for Inter in that game: “With Barcelona there was a response that had to be given and that was given, the match was very important.

“Among the important responses there is also that of De Vrij, who had struggled but returned and was decisive.”

Two more players that he picked out for comment were Hakan Calhanoglu and Andre Onana.

The former scored the winning goal of the game in the first half with a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

He praised his performance whilst also passing comment on the alternation of Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic: “Calhanoglu and the midfield also worked well.

“And then there is the goalkeeper issue, to be understood what Inzaghi wants to do: for me Onana must play.”
