Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is accelerating his recovery from injury with the Barcelona clash in mind, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian striker is aiming to be back on the pitch for the Barcelona match next week even though that game is likely to come too soon.

He has increased the intensity of his work on the training pitch with that match in mind.

More conservative estimates suggest that the Salernitana game next weekend is a much more likely match for him to make his return in.

He has been training on the grass recently which is a good sign but he has not been involved with the full group yet.

That is why he has no chance of playing in the match against Sassuolo on Saturday afternoon, even from the bench. Joaquin Correa is also out.
