Inter Goalkeeper Andre Onana could make his first start in the league in this afternoon’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 26-year-old is getting closer and closer to overtaking Samir Handanovic as first-choice in goal and that his league debut could come already against the Neroverdi.
So far in the season Handanovic has started every match in Serie A for Inter, whilst Onana has started every Champions League match.
However, the feeling is that it is not too long until coach Simone Inzaghi ceases this league-cup policy of rotation and makes a more decisive choice.
The sense is that it will be Onana who the coach puts his faith in as the team’s main goalkeeper, and that it is a question of when rather than if the Cameroonian also becomes the Serie A keeper.
In fact, it is possible that this evening’s match away to Sassuolo could be Onana’s introduction to the lineup in Serie A.
