Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the team is well in the midst of turning a corner.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after this afternoon’s 2-1 win over Sassuolo, the 33-year-old spoke about the growth in performances against Barcelona and then this afternoon.

Inter endured a miserable run of form to start the season, with Serie A losses to Udinese and Roma on either side of the international break perhaps the worst point.

However, back-to-back wins against tough opposition have changed the situation significantly.

The Nerazzurri showed more defensive resoluteness than they had virtually all season to keep a clean sheet against the Blaugranas, and then this afternoon once again looked more solid apart from a switch-off for the Neroverdi’s second-half goal.

Mkhitaryan feels that the team are showing that they are stronger than their bad start to the season may have suggested.

“Against Barcelona we had already shown that we were a different team,” the midfielder said.

“We’re not perfect, but we’re working hard to keep winning,” he continued.

“And here we were rewarded,” he added.

“After they equalized it was tough,” Mkhitaryan said of this afternoon’s match, “but we’re Inter and we’ve shown that we don’t give up, that we always want to win.”

Of Inter’s match-winner Edin Dzeko, the 33-year-old said that “I’m very happy for him, we’re teammates for the third season.”

“I’m glad he got two goals and I assisted one, but most of all I’m happy to get the three points.”
